Building links to your website is an important factor in any SEO campaign – you will of course need to properly optimise your on-site elements and make sure your keyword research has been done properly, but building links is one of the biggest factors in pages ranking.
There are many sources for getting inbound links to your site, some are quick and easy, others take considerable time and effort. A particularly simple way to increase inbound links is to leave comments on high PR blogs. You’ll need to ensure that links are followed on the blog, and not tagged with the NoFollow command. An easy way to find out this information, you can download a firefox plugin which highlights NoFollow links, called SearchStatus. Alternatively, you can do a Google search for lists of blogs that don’t add the NoFollow tag to comment links.
Another excellent link building tool is article marketing. This is the process of writing and original article containing your keyterms, and then spinning it. Spinning refers to the process of re-writing each sentence two or three times, as well as the article title. By having so many re-written sentences, you end up with thousands of potential combinations, giving you lots of technically original articles. These are then distributed via paid article distribution networks. The articles each contain two or three links to your site, allowing you to build numerous links very quickly. If you’re finding it hard to write high numbers of original article, you could utilise a freelance copywriter to do it for you.
Guest blogging is another excellent tool for building links, although you’ll only be adding one or two at a time. This is where you contact the owner of a high PR blog and offer to write original content for them, in return for a link (usually in an author bio). This is very effective and a great tool for search engine optimisation.
