For the aveage Webmaster, Search Engine Optimization is something that only people with years of experience can master. As a Guaranteed Houston SEO, I believe part of this misunderstanding is because of all the misinformation taught by self described SEO Guru’s. Some do this because they do not know any better while many others do it because their Clients would stop paying them if they knew how easy it was to rank a web site. SEO isn’t rocket science peeps. It’s nothing more than systematically building and optimizing a website the same way over and over to achieve high rankings.

To start with, one should make certain your main keywords are part of the URL if it’s possible. All things being equal, a site with your keywords in the domain name will rank higher than one without the keywords included in the web address.

Next up, the keyword or keyword phrase should be added in the Website’s Title. By doing this, you’re helping search engines like MSN come to a conclusion as to what subject your site is covering.

Your keywords should also be used as the Title of each page also, or at the very least, the Title of the page should contain your some keywords. This has the same effect as putting keywords in the Title of your Website in that it helps the search engines determine what the page is about, what words to rank it for and how relevant it is. As an added benefit, the website should be coded in such a manner as to include the Title of each page in a H1 tag. There should only be one H1 tag per page for the best results. Search engines rely a great deal on the H1 to tell them what the page is about and how relevant it is. If you’re using a web design company company, make certain they know how to do this one little thing.

You should now have those three things taken care of. Now that you do, it’s crucial that your keywords show up a few times in the content of the page. You should insert the keywords into the first paragraph somewhere and once or twice more in the article somewhere, especially near the end of the page. A few more times between the first and last paragraph can’t hurt but don’t over do it, just be sure you work them in the first part of the page and again at the end.

Lastly, you’ll soon discover that the most important part of SEO actually takes place off the page. In fact, it takes place off the site altogether. In my opinion, the most important thing in obtaining a higher ranking is backlinks pointing to your site. And it’s not enough to just get backlinks, these links back to your site need to have your keywords as the Anchor text of the links back to your site.

How important are links back to your site? Well, I can rank a website that doesn’t have the keywords in the domain, one that doesn’t have keywords in the Website Title, Page Title and in the Content (although it’s much, much harder to do), but without anchored backward links going to your web page, {it’s almost impossible} to to get higher rankings in the search engines for any terms that are the least bit competitive.
