Too Many Pictures Can Harm Your Page Performance – Search Engine Optimization Processes Can Improve It

Every organisation wants to attract potential consumers to its website. If your organisation is fulfilling a totally unique need then the website can be coded in plain text and not need to worry about any pictures – but this is going to extremely unlikely. For any website, striking the right balance of text and pictures is a must, and search engine optimisation considerations also come in to play. A website can load very slowly if it is overwhelmed with pictures, and as well as annoying a possible client it can also affect your natural search engine positioning on search query results listings. Eliminating all graphic content from the pages is an extreme suggestion that will not cause a major increase in the website’s natural search engine positioning.

Numerous factors are now considered in the algorithm used by search engines when deriving the search engine positioning of a website page, few of which are widely known. Page loading speed has only emerged recently. Large pictures are not the only contributor to poor loading times, but a big improvement can be made just by making the picture files more compact. However your search optimization specialist should be capable of recommending several other alterations that are coupled to pictures, such as providing alternate description metatags, which incorporate relevant keywords that were chosen as part of the initial keyword review of the page, which will add to the significance of the page. Your search optimization specialist may suggest changing the location of pictures so that they intrude less with text and the search engine crawlers will appreciate the significance of the page content to search requests. There is no point in positioning pictures so far down a page that a site visitor does not see them, or so high that your possible client has to spend too long exploring for the real content on the page.

Badly managed pictures are not the only component that can be improved by the use of search engine optimisation processes but they are one of the components that can be included in the basic mechanical alterations that can have an effect and are often overlooked by some webmasters and optimization consultants. Including relevant keywords into the file names and alt tags of pictures can help just as much as embedding those same relevant keywords into page titles and descriptions. They all increase awareness with the search engines and that can lead to better rankings. Read the rest of this entry »

There are numerous technical adjustments that can be made to a business’s website during the primary search optimization review that help to make a page’s search engine positioning more noticeable. This includes adjusting title and description metatags on each page of a website to highlight keywords that are coupled to the page, or the use of heading metatags in page content to similarly highlight the chosen keywords.

To many search engine optimisation observers, the effect of these technical adjustments on a page’s natural placement can be overstated. However, something that can be affected by technical adjustments that can result in a better search engine positioning is page loading speed.

Google recently stated that page speed is now a factor used in its algorithm. Granted speed is only one of hundreds of factors, but there is already some anecdotal evidence to support the effect of speed on placement. One enterprise has reported finally overtaking a long-standing rival on a search results page for their most relevant keyword after making adjustments that affected its load times. This note was in response to a blog document written by a search optimization expert on page speed relevance. Read the rest of this entry »

Optimization Techniques Are Now Common Knowledge And You Can SEO Your Own Websites

Way back when people began showing up online the internet was still in its early stages. Getting your site listed well, at first, was a piece of cake, but as more and more sites came around it become more and more difficult to be in the #1 position. Back then there was a lot of experimenting to do in order to get any site listed at all. Optimization was an unknown and no one knew what made the engines tick, or how their algorithms worked. I remember trying things without really having any idea if it would work or not, or if it would really make any difference at all. Over the years there was a lot of experimentation done and the rewards of all this is that today we know what works and what doesn’t and we know exactly what type of changes need to happen to a website in order for it to rise in the listings.

Way back when I started to SEO the term hadn’t even been coined yet. I found that if I added the keyword I wanted to get listed for one more time than the current #1 site I would take over that position. Google wasn’t even around, I imagine the Google gurus were in high school still. Times were exciting and the internet was the new frontier … just waiting to be conquered. Search engines were using the meta tag information to rank sites. So if you had your keyword in your meta keywords tag you would rank for it. Well, actually if your competition used it twice they would rank, so you would want to use it three times. It was really that simple at first. Nothing was impossible, so it seemed, and making money online because a simple task of setting up a site and doing this optimization thing to it.

After a while the engines started to become a little more sophisticated. The title tag was perhaps one of the first things that turned up as something you could do to help your sites’ listings beyond the meta tags. The engines had now realized that they needed to find other ways to figure out which site was the best out of what was there. The meta tags were simply abused to the max. These were very exciting times. The internet was growing in leaps and bounds and websites were cropping up by the thousands. Never has there been a more exciting time of life in recent history. Many website owners underestimate how important link building – a proponent part of search engine optimization – can be to maximizing that site’s traffic and, ultimately, its success as well. Links may sound complicated but in fact, they are simply the areas on a website where we can click to navigate from one site to the next. Because they allow people to move directly to your site without the need to search for it, building the right links can really help to increase your site’s visibility and increase the amount of traffic that is travelling to that site.

This can also translate into increased sales if the right customers end up being able to view your products or a description of your services. Another benefit of link building is that it can also help to increase your ranking on many of the commonly used search engines. The thing that you need to remember is that it is the quality of the links that is as important as the number of links that you have on various websites.

One of the first things you can do is to put articles on other websites that link back to your site. Whether you choose GoArticles, About.com or even EZine.com, is not important. The key is to use well-written articles that directly relate to your products or services. People will read the articles and click on the links. Articles are great because they allow you to bring in targeted traffic that is more likely to purchase your products or book your services. You can also use blogs, press releases, and news stories as a way to get people to click on your site. This is great because again, it is targeted traffic. Read the rest of this entry »

The financial gain from a position in the top 5 search results for a major keyword can be very substantial, one example is a keyword that went from the bottom of the second page to the 4th position on Google.

A client’s website had a ranking of 18 for their primary target keywords on the second page of Google’s natural search engine results. Considering the number of companies competing for a high ranking on this keyword, a position on the second page seemed like a good accomplishment, but the volume of sales leads was disappointing.

The most important part of a landing page or even an article is to have a compelling headline, because it is the headline that people see first and will read further based on the interest generated because of the headline. You might find the following tips helpful in making a powerful headline:

1) Way before you sit down to write your headline, contemplate for an instance on what you want to accomplish with your article or web page. Are you selling something on it or are you just sharing great information you feel your readers will enjoy?

2) Next figure out what problems you are going to help your readers solve. Your visitors care more about the problem they are attempting to solve than they are with what you are trying to get them to purchase. Read the rest of this entry »

In order to be successful in your search engine marketing campaign, you need to do SEO keyword research. Knowing the best keywords to use in your internet marketing campaigns is crucial if you want to rank well for search terms that will drive traffic to your website. Fortunately, learning how to research keywords is not difficult at all.

Take out a piece of paper or open a spreadsheet program so you can keep track of the keywords you come up with. It’s advisable that you use one page per project so you can keep everything organized. This will also allow you to add more keywords at a later date or use them again for a different project.

Start by thinking about the topic of your project. Write down all the keywords you think your customers will use to find the information or product you are offering on your website. For example, if you are running a dog training site, some keywords you may come up with would be, ‘How to train a dog’ or ‘dog training tips’. Read the rest of this entry »
