SEO efforts in my firm are still currently managed in-house and the reason why I have not decided on outsourcing this piece of work is because I have yet to meet any company who really understands what’s important in SEO and how it truly works. But that’s in Singapore, perhaps it’s different if you from another part of the world. Regardless of where you come from, you will benefit from my search insights. Another reason why SEO is still not outsourced in my firm is simply because, I have in my team someone who is well-trained in search engine optimization. It’s not just some theories one can pick up from an ebook or from a short 1-2 day workshop. Unless this person has implemented and maintained SEO especially on big websites and has probably survived a few rounds of search engine algorithm changes in the last few years, he/she is still relatively untested. And since we are generating a very high amount of online sales through our website, we just cannot afford to take this risk. But if you are a small business owner and even if you do not sell online, you should outsource your SEO efforts because your time is worth it and because your potential customers deserve to find you online. I cannot tell you how much frustrations I had trying to locate a local service via all the major search engines in Singapore. They just can’t be found! And I do believe it’s the same else where and thousands of businesses have not awaken to the reality that more and more people are going online each day and they are “dying” to buy their products/services online. So the answer to the proverbial outsourcing question is this? Unless you are prepared and have the budget to invest in training and grooming someone within your team on SEO, you should outsource. Because whether you like it or not, Search Engines are here to stay and as they evolve, you cannot afford not to be found on them. Google and the other search engines have never been more sophisticated. Even for SEO specialists, trying to understand the engines’ changing algorithms is often like trying to lasso rain. While SEO copywriters undoubtedly require specialised knowledge and the ability to generate clear, well-written, relevant content on diverse subjects, be alert to those who try to baffle you with false science. Google itself recognises that the key to effective SEO writing is well-written, relevant content. When you are shortlisting SEO copywriters, here are five important things to consider. (1) Has the SEO copywriter written SEO copy before? Just as designing a Formula One car is different to designing a 4×4, so SEO copy writing is very different from writing newsletters or brochures. A good SEO copywriter will be eager to tell you about work they’ve done. Visit some sites to see for yourself; see if their clients include SEO, website or online marketing specialists. (2) Do they have a website themselves? How did you find the SEO copywriter’s own site? If you found it through a search engine, that’s a good sign. But anyone can cram keywords or key phrases into a website. Does the site read well to a human reader? Copy that looks stilted or overly repetitive should ring alarm bells: do you really want your site to read like that? It’s something to think about when considering SEO copywriters… (3) Is your SEO copywriter based locally? With modern technology it’s not essential for you to be in the same town, county or even country as your SEO copywriter. But in practice, as with so many aspects of business, it’s often advantageous to work with a local SEO copywriter. It’s all about building and maintaining relationships: sometimes there’s nothing better than sitting down face-to-face. (4) What are their fees? Like any product or service, you get what you pay for with SEO copywriters so beware of some of the ‘cheap and cheerful’ SEO copy out there. Ideally, (provided you’ve provided a clear brief) your SEO copywriter should give you a fixed price quotation (not just an estimate). This will usually cover a first draft of SEO copywriting and at least two rounds of revisions. Provided that you don’t change the brief mid-project, your copywriter shouldn’t change their fee either. And of course, you will provide the required keywords or key-phrases before they start work for you. If you are interested about SEO Target Marketing then you have come to the right place. Search engines are usually not interested to promote or suggest an SEO service because they lose ad revenue and are held liable when the SEO firm does a bad job. SEO organizations do not work due to the power struggles between various marketers. Why Search Engines do not like SEO Search engines straight away cannot agree with SEO services since SEO services providers may or I can say directly affect their revenue search engines are getting through the pay per click programs they are offering. So, there is no official guidelines for How to SEO. Search engines always give a brief guideline but never provide a precise help required. Because if they had direct rules someone can find or crack a similar techniques to manipulate the search results thats were still under their TOC rule book. What matters in the SEO industry is results. How did the top site get there? How can my site rank at the top? Why You can’t Trust an SEO Based on Their Rankings A Site owned and run by an SEO which is doing good and for competitive terms will rank well, still there is no guarantee that the search engine will do a good job for them. Because I have come across a lot of website owners who buy SEO services lose money and again bought a different service from a different SEO. Some SEO’s have qualities outside the Box thats makes them popular and help them spread the message. This help does not mean that these guys are good at promoting your websites, only that they are good in promoting their websites. Quality SEO is always expensive and takes more time. But because of bad SEO’s in the market the entire SEO field gets tarred with the same brush for the action of few bad people. Some companies rum PPC as regular SEO. But one thing always keep in mind that organic SEO if always different from PPC marketing. The Problem with Labeling SEO’s A website is important or not but the main task for an SEO is to make a search engine believe that the site is important. No matter how you do it, the job of the SEO is to improve rankings and to drive traffic. It depends upon the website to website that which techniques is to be used for the promotion. Because there are certain categories which are very competitive so an SEO has to work outside the SEO guideline ( think out of the box) set by the major search engine like Google, yahoo or msn. So, Ultimately it is up to the SEO service consumer which path he/she has to follow to achieve their goals to promote their website. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the art and science of making search engines rank your site high in the natural search results when someone types in a query. That’s the intent of SEO, however. Since SEO is still an emerging field, there is no “governing body”, and the rules sometimes change. A good SEO professional understands these changing rules, and knows how to properly apply them. A bad SEO specialist generally makes mistakes, or purposely tries to deceive the system to win “fake” high rankings. It is not true that you have no control over what appears in the search engines. The content that you put on your site determines where you appear in the search engine results page (SERP). If your site is about “widgets”, you’re probably not going to appear in search results about “bus fares”. The most important thing you can do on the web is to represent yourself honestly. If your site is about “widgets”, and the content on your site talks about “widgets” then you’ll probably appear somewhere in the SERP for “widgets”. A good SEO professional can help you rank higher for “widgets”, among other well-researched, and relevant keywords. What is the Difference Between a “Good” SEO Service, and a “Bad” One? A bad (“blackhat”) SEO marketer is like a vendor walking down the street selling snake oil. You may think you’re getting a deal, but you can’t be sure of the consequences. A good SEO marketer is like a pharmacist. They have studied all the tried and true techniques to solve your problem and probably have a good idea of how to safely and effectively address your issue. The Benefits of Hiring bad SEO: • Your site could shoot straight to the top, ranking #1 for your keywords • You could earn a few new customers quickly and make a quick buck • The cost is far less than what your friends and competitors are paying for SEO The Costs of Hiring bad SEO: • When the search engines catch on, your site could be penalized (drastically downgraded) in the rankings, ending up worse than before • Your site could be temporarily banned from the search engine (completely unfindable – expect 6-12 months) • Your site could be permanently banned from the search engine (completely unfindable – for good) • When any of the above occurs, there will be lost productivity from having to remove all the search engine spam from your site • It could be hard to track down all the tricks the SEO marketer used to artificially boost the rankings, and therefore it could take a long time to get back into the results pages • Once penalized or banned, you will lose all the potential customers you would have gained had it been done correctly • A professional SEO consultant will probably have to be hired at additional cost to fix it and do the job right If you want to learn more about Search Engine Optimization, you can read through the following articles: Your Business Success And SEO, Your Business Success And SEO, Internet SEO For Your Success

I often talk to people who have lost faith in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) firms because of bad experiences. Either they saw no results, felt that they were tricked into subscribing to a service that could not work, or that they wasted money on a firm that did them no good. Although I agree that there are bad SEO firms out there, I know that there are also many good ones. It’s your job to make sure you find an SEO firm that will work for you. Search engines are the basis of Internet existence and survival. Recent studies have concluded that over 90 percent of all web surfers use search engines to find what they are looking for. Thus, in order to be successful on the Internet, your website must be search engine friendly. If people who search the Internet for your products or services are not finding your Web site, you need search engine optimization (SEO). Now some of you may take on the task of optimizing your own sites. For those people, there are plenty of “how to” articles on the Internet that can help you. If you need more help, drop me an email and I’ll give you some ideas. However, many webmasters decide instead to let an SEO company handle their marketing. Search Engine Optimization is a full time job, and many companies need to hire someone to do it for them. If this is your intent, you should know what to look for, and what to watch for, when selecting the right SEO company. 1. Make Sure They, and Their Clients, are Successful and Well Optimized If your SEO company does not rank high on most major search engines under their specific services, then they probably won’t have the ability to get you high ranking on yours. For example, if you’re located in Boston, your SEO company should at least rank on the first page in Google, Yahoo, and MSN under such search terms as “Boston SEO,” “Boston Internet Marketing,” “Boston Web Marketing,” or even “Boston Web Design.” If you found them through pay-per-click or sponsored listings, this only means that they do not have the ability to optimize their own websites and are forced to pay for their clientele. In addition, it is a good idea to check the success of their clients. All SEO companies have a client listing, if for no other reason than to offer front page links to their big spenders. Take a good look at these clients’ sites. Check for quality of content and keywords. View the source and see how well the meta tags are structured and how well they apply to the content given. And most importantly, go to the major search engines and find where these clients land on the search terms they are targeting. If the SEO company has created a successful marketing campaign for each of its clients, chances are you’re looking at a good SEO firm. However, if neither the SEO company or its listed clients have high rankings, I would recommend you find a firm that does.
