Build A Better Website

A key aspect of a good website is fast loading pages. This is called optimization. Web surfers generally do not want to wait long and their patience is limited.

To help speed up the process you can also use smaller photographs or pictures on the web page. You can also limit the external call scripts. You can combine these calls into one call to add those files to the web page. The faster and leaner you can make the web page the better. Also, you need to somewhat restrict banner advertisements, the size of the files, as some animated files are relatively large.

There is a debate over validating your website to the W3C website standards. Some say you should concentrate on validation and others say you do not have to. A lot of websites that are on top of the search engine index are not validated and are full of errors. Validating can help you find errors to correct as many as you possibly can. Web browsers can take a certain amount of errors but they have their limits before they crash.

If needing a site where there will be a lot of files called quickly such as articles or pictures, PHP and MySQL are a great choice for language and the database. They are fast and not too difficult to learn and work with each other. These two work together as they have very fast input and retrieval of the files.

Another great choice are blogs as the search engines enjoy these as they are easy to parse. They also have very up to date information. Blogs are growing rapidly in popularity.

Hosting is of prime importance for your website. It is a good idea to go with a top hosting company. Many of the lower quality or cheaper hosting services have slow servers. They also have inadequate customer service.

Membership sites are also a great choice. The main positive aspect is a continuous monthly income of the members. This will keep the website active and give it the ability to bring in fresh content by either writing it yourself or paying writers to keep the content up to date. There is also the ability to let the members add content.

Another great site is a site feed by RSS or ATOM for news or other content types. These sites will have automatic updated content on a constant basis. There will need to be some unique content such as editorials about events.

A key to a site that will get indexed by the engines is unique content. Duplicate content is okay but to really make a difference and stand out is must be different.

Websites that are different and better than other websites in their field are really successful. Just trying to get by is not the best method but to push the envelope of what is being done. If you see advertisements for buying or setting up websites that are copying or duplicated sites all over the place in most cases they will not do well with search engine indexing alone. There are ways to drive traffic to these type of websites with direct means such as advertising banners and search engine ads, video marketing, and article marketing. Social networking is also very good.

There is also the one page website. This website basically captures leads of people who are interested in a product. The company that pays for the leads supplies the page in most cases and you supply the advertising. Sometimes you can build your own landing page yourself for their approval or of course your own product or service. These leads can also be called cost per action (CPA).

Some people are enjoying working on free blog type sites. These are good as the blog already has a lot of rank. The individual blogs that are in them get somewhat of a boost already by the engines just by being a part of them The reason is some these have minimum standards are the blog will give you a warning. The reason is they want to keep their good reputation and higher indexing.
