The better your title tag the better chance you have of getting the ranking you want for your keyword.
Be sure to include your primary keyword phrase in the headline tags. This method is just one more thing for on-site SEO that will help you. Nobody but a few people at Google know what the specifics are in terms of SEO contribution. Your headline tags are short headlines that are informative and do contain the appropriate keywords. There are free tools available online that help you check the H1, H2 and H3 tags. There is another important consideration which has to do with where you use any keywords.
You can get a site ranked with poor on-page SEO, but you will be a sitting duck when someone comes along who has done it. Utilizing smart and effective on and off page SEO will help to insulate you from changes when they occur.
